How Ravenhill Removals began
Ravenhill Removals started in 2008 when Mark Ravenhill began helping local customers move home with a single van. It was a practical business built around the things that matter most on moving day: turning up prepared, treating belongings with care and speaking to customers plainly about what's involved.
As the work grew, so did the team and the collection of vans that have become part of the company's story. You can see some of them on our fleet page — including Sidney, Clive and vehicles from earlier years. Those photographs tell the story better than a generic stock picture ever could.
Moving Ewe Ltd was incorporated in June 2021 and now operates the Ravenhill Removals business. We remain based in Sheffield and continue to plan each job around the property, the load and the people moving, rather than treating every house move as identical.
A move is about more than getting furniture into a van
It's easy to underestimate the details that make a removal straightforward or difficult. A wardrobe might need dismantling to clear a staircase. A sofa may need careful wrapping or a different route out of the building. A narrow driveway can change where the vehicle parks, and a long carry from the front door can add time to loading and unloading.
That's why we ask for a video survey alongside our detailed quotation form. It helps us understand the number and size of items, whether anything needs specialist handling, and what the access is like at both addresses. It also lets you show us lofts, sheds, garages and garden furniture that don't always get mentioned in a room count.
Planning for the realities of moving day
Property chains, key collection times and moving-out deadlines can make the timetable tight. If another family needs to move into your home the same day, or you're waiting for previous occupants to leave your next property, tell us before the move. We can then discuss what that means for the crew, vans and quotation.
We also ask about parking, stairs, lifts and vehicle access. Identifying potential delays early is far better than discovering them with the van loaded and a new homeowner waiting on the doorstep.
House moves, business moves and the help in between
Our work covers domestic removals, business and office moves, furniture transport and packing and furniture dismantling/reassembly. Storage arrangements and specialist items can also be discussed when we assess the job. What is included will always depend on the individual written quotation.
Some customers need a full household move with multiple vans; others just need a carefully planned move for a few bulky items. We look at what needs moving before recommending the resources, rather than assuming the number of bedrooms tells the whole story.
Sheffield roots, journeys well beyond the city
Stannington is our home base, with work throughout Sheffield and the surrounding parts of Yorkshire, Derbyshire and further across Britain. Longer journeys need more planning, particularly where collection and delivery access, timings or overnight arrangements differ. Where a European move is proposed, we discuss the destination and applicable logistics individually; please don't assume any cross-border arrangement is confirmed until we've reviewed the details.
